Geoff McFetridge, 'Out and Back', 2018.

“I have always been interested in creating work that lies between image and language. Imagery that your mind reads as language rather than being seen as spatial or physical things.”

Born in Canada in 1971, Geoff McFetridge studied at the California Institute of the Arts. He lives and works in Los Angeles.

McFetridge first got a foothold in the world of graphics while still a student, setting up his own studio “Champion Graphics”. He went on to collaborate with a number of brands such as Nike, Pepsi, Burton and Patagonia. The music industry also came calling, his work appearing in videos for The Whitest Boy Alive, Plaid and Simian among others. At the same time, he served as artistic director for the cult “Grand Royal”, the Beastie Boys magazine.

As an artist working across disciplines, he mixes poetry, graphics, painting, textile design and 3D animation. His work veers between figuration and abstraction with recurring motifs such as animals, hands, skaters and bikers.
