The City Lights exhibition began with an exploration of the maze of the museum's cellars to discover exceptional pieces of paper cut from Swoon. The journey through this archetype of the labyrinth, at the heart of the museum's foundations, was an initiation ritual of "passage". The pasted paper memories of people helped by the artist rubbed shoulders with the threatening images of his own family. Passing through the cellars of MIMA, you symbolically follow the path of Swoon which left shadows of its past to lead to a philanthropic and poetic work.
