Double Bill offers you an entry ticket for two exhibitions, a journey into the shadows and lights of the cinema. On the one hand, “Drama, The Art of Laurent Durieux” for the stars and Hollywood. On the other, “The ABC of Porn“, the 40 exceptional archives of a Brussels pornographic cinema: the ABC.

THE ABC OF PORN CINEMA
(Prohibited under 18 year old)
In 2013, the ABC, Brussels’ last old-school adult cinema still showing 35mm films, was shut down. Its archive, meticulously built over the forty years of its existence, was salvaged by Cinema Nova, allowing the veil of a bygone era devoured by the digital revolution to be lifted.
The exhibition “The ABC of Porn Cinema” spans four decades of activity by the aforementioned theatre, and in doing so recalls the world that surrounded it. Through numerous documents, posters, hand-painted billboards, engraved press plates and censored photos retrieved from the ABC, plus an accompanying art installation, an obscure part of our culture destined to be buried in the annals of history can once again be rediscovered and reappraised. Indeed, these historical archives are exceptional and unique, unafraid to indulge in humour or to drum up reflection and controversy.

THE ABC OF PORN CINEMA
(Interdit aux moins de 18 ans)
L’exposition traverse les quatre décennies d’activité du cinéma pornographique ABC et évoque le monde qui l’entourait. À travers de nombreux documents, posters, affiches peintes à la main, pavés de presse, photos censurées et installation artistique, elle met en lumière un pan obscur de notre culture, destiné aux oubliettes de l’histoire.
Ces archives historiques sont donc exceptionnelles, uniques et ne manquent ni de cocasserie ni de matière à réflexions et controverse.
Une exposition créée par le cinéma Nova et le MIMA avec la participation du collectif Gogolplex.

De tentoonstelling presenteert een honderdtal originele affiches van de Belgische kunstenaar, internationaal geprezen door filmliefhebbers.
THE ABC OF PORN CINEMA
(Verboden onder de 18 jaar)
In 2013 sloot de ABC, de laatste Brusselse “bioscoop voor volwassenen” die nog “vintage” werkte en 35 mm-films vertoonde. Dankzij de veertig jaar archieven die het team van Cinema Nova heeft weten te redden, lichten we een tipje van de sluier van een vervlogen tijdperk dat door de digitale revolutie is weggevaagd.
De tentoonstelling “The ABC of Porn Cinema” doorkruist vier decennia activiteit van deze pornocinema en de wereld die ermee samenhing. Aan de hand van tal van documenten, affiches, handgeschilderde posters, drukplaten, gecensureerde foto’s en een artistieke installatie wordt een licht geworpen op een duister deel van onze cultuur, dat gedoemd was om in de vergeetput van de geschiedenis te belanden. Deze historische archieven zijn dus uitzonderlijk, uniek en niet gespeend van humor, stof tot nadenken en controverse.
Een tentoonstelling gemaakt door de Nova-bioscoop en het MIMA met de deelname van het Gogolplex-collectief.
